"I knew as soon as I saw the view across the Duddon Estuary and mountains beyond that I had found somewhere very special. My first caravan had gas lamps, so a conversion to electric was needed and now 38 years on I’m still here. "

Ulverston Lantern Festival

Ulverston's famous Lantern Procession takes place once a year.  Children and their families create imaginatively designed lanterns in all shapes and sizes which they then proudly carry through the town.  This years theme is 'Outer Space'.

They come from the four sides of Ulverston where they meet at the County Square and then march to the sound of bands and drums to Ford Park . The climax of the festivities are the fireworks and bonfires. The event commences at 7pm and will end at approximately 10pm.

Procession Times & Finale:

Each procession will start from four different assembly points in Ulverston and will merge in the County Square between 8:25pm and 8:35pm. Once all processions have arrived they will proceed together into Ford Park to join the breath-taking light graffiti finale which will take place from 8:45pm, performed using dance and circus skills, followed by the traditional huge firework display.
