"My wife and I have owned a caravan at Longlands for over 17 years, and although we have seen many changes, the park feels just the same as it did all those years ago. The park is well maintained and cared for by the staff and we look forward to every visit."

Autumn is a great time of year to visit the Park. We’re surrounded by the golden hues of the woodland and have been blessed with lots of stunning blue sky days.

We’re often rather modest when it comes to shouting about the benefits of becoming a resident on one of our two parks on the South Cumbrian Holker Estate. Speaking as one of those who works on the Estate, we grow accustomed to working in such a beautiful environment and often forget what a privilege it is.

There's a new craze hitting The Lakes - Herdwick Spotting! (Finding beautifully decorated sheep statues along a trail from Keswick to Ambleside). It all started with an idea dreamt up at the Lake District Calvert Trust - a local charity who provide residential outdoor activities courses for those with disabilities.

Day 1 of the new season is here (already! It only seems a moment since we were closing the parks down), but we’re open and raring to go! Residents are arriving back on the Park full of anticipation for the year ahead. But it wasn’t exactly Spring weather that greeted them; certainly not in the air anyway! The morning begun with a smattering of snow showers across the fells and estuary, leaving a pretty white coating along the Coniston Range.

As the 2015 season draws to a close, and winter starts to take its grip on our parks, the thoughts of both our staff and residents turn to shutdown preparations and Christmas. Yet, there’s still a definite ‘buzz’ as well as a chill in the air.

With sales of new and nearly-new caravans at both our parks booming, many residents seem to have discovered the benefits of owning new models.

Whilst we wait in anticipation of the hot, sunny days of summer to arrive, there’s still plenty to do out and about in South Cumbria. If you’re planning a visit to your holiday home this weekend, you’re in for a treat. Take your pick from action-packed horse racing at Cartmel, arts and crafts extravaganza ‘Prom Art’, or ‘Woolfest’ the original British wool festival in Cockermouth.

With the new 2015 caravan season just days away, anticipation is rising. For our residents, thoughts will be turning to weekends away, enjoying peaceful surroundings and exploring all that the Lake District has to offer.

On March 1st we opened our gates to Old Park Wood and Longlands. Almost since Day One the weather has been glorious, except a minor blip in early August. September turned out to be the Indian summer we are often promised but seldom see; not this year though, it’s been a glorious month! The parks have been kept looking their very best all summer and we are only now seeing the signs of autumn - orange hues creeping through the woodlands and sloe berries lining the hedgerows of the parks. (Note to self: next year I must remember to pick a bag full of them and add to a bottle of Gin. It makes the absolute best winter tipple!)

With weeks of fine weather behind us and the promise of a warmer than usual autumn ahead, we lucky folk in the Lake District can be thankful for the notable lack of rain this summer. That said..without rain we would have no Lakes! Perish the thought! The fine weather has brought with it an influx of visitors to this tranquil part of England once again and with literally hundreds of attractions and events happening locally it’s not surprizing. There’s nothing quite like the Lake District in summer.
